KARACHI: Pakistan’s Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Turkey’s Berk Ulas, and Kuwait’s Bader Alabdullah and Essa Qabazard advanced to the boys singles semi-finals of the Syed Tajammul Abbas ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking Tennis Championships at S Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad on Thursday.Top seed Huzaifa maintained his supremacy to eliminate Taentawan Taddeo Majoli Maggioli of Thailand in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.Shoaib Khan lost to fourth seed Berk Ulas in a thrilling three-set match. After losing the first set 6-4, Shoaib bounced back to win the second set 6-1. However, in the decisive third set Shoaib made some unforced errors, losing the set 6-3.Essa Qabazard won his encounter against Togan Makzume of Turkey in another exciting three-set match 6-2, 7-6(8), 6-4. Bader Alabdullah thrashed Thai Nathan Jattavapornvanti 6-2, 6-4.In the girls singles quarter-final, seventh seed Anjalika Kurera of Sri Lanka battled past Soo Ha Jang of Korea in a three-set match.Arina Valitova of Russia won against Hannag Seen Ean Yip of Malaysia, while third seed Aysegul Mert of Turkey overcame Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung of Hong Kong in another three-set encounter.
