KARACHI: Former French international footballer Nicolas Anelka will land in Islamabad next week, organisers of the World Soccer Stars 2019 announced on Saturday.“Anelka, a former PSG, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and French international talisman has been enlisted to World Soccer Stars and will land in Islamabad on March 5,” TouchSky Group said in a press release.TouchSky Group World Soccer Stars is bringing Anelka with an aim to revive and uplift football in Pakistan, it said. “Following unveiling of Kaka, Figo and AKON on January 10 in Karachi and Lahore, Anelka has also penned a strategic long-term deal with the World Soccer Stars,” the organisers said.Anelka will meet the president of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Syed Ashfaq Hussain Shah to reinforce the development of the 20-point agenda to uplift football. “The aspiration of millions of football fans in Pakistan now is to see their dreams become a reality and not just witness world-class players arriving in the country for exhibition matches,” it said.The expert knowledge of Anelka is based on offensive coaching style which he currently offers at Lille OSC Youth in France Ligue 1, the press release said.“The visit is designed to help grow technical understanding for PFF through a partnership with TouchSky Group World Soccer Stars.”“My participation is to help boost football in Pakistan and having embraced Islam, I have a special connection with Pakistan. I have forged a special relationship with the World Soccer Stars tour. I am confident of this tour being one of a kind,” Anelka has been quoted as saying.Robert Lewis, head of TSG World Soccer Stars, said he was delighted to discuss the real development needs for football and unearth a realistic sport grassroots structure for PFF.“I am committed to a sustainable growth in football and really impressed with the appetite football has in the market,” he said. It was also learnt that Anelka will meet football fans at Centauras Mall, Islamabad.
