PARIS: The cancellation of the women’s World Cup super-G on Saturday at Rosa Khutor in Russia ensured Mikaela Shiffrin would win a third straight overall title.The International Ski Federation announced that the race would not be rescheduled.The American, who opted not to compete on the piste used for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, leads Petra Vlhova by 719 points in the overall standings.That leaves just seven World Cup legs, and a maximum of 700 points, although tomorrow’s competition, like Saturday’s cancelled event, is a super-G, a discipline in which Vlhova rarely competes and has never finished on World Cup podium.Next week’s racing in Spindleruv Mlyn in the Czech Republic is dedicated to the technical events in which both Shiffrin and Vlhova specialise. The World Cup finals are in Andorra the following week with races in all four regular events.
