Gautam Gambhir may run for elections from BJP in New Delhi https://ift.tt/2tquErD NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricket star Gautam Gambhir may run for India's upcoming April-May general elections as a Bharata Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Delhi.Speculations are rife that the 37-year-old cricketer may contest from the prestigious New Delhi constituency that is currently under party's Meenakshi Lekhi. Gambhir is a resident of Rajinder Nagar, which falls within the constituency.According to Indian reports, Meenakshi will contest from one of the other constituencies in the capital, which accounts for seven seats in th 545-member Lok Sabha. Gambhir was an eminent campaigner for Union Minister Arun Jaitley's 2014 contest in Amritsar. Jaitley lost the election to Congress's Amarinder Singh, who is now the Chief Minister of Punjab.
